On Wednesday, September 20th, less than a block from his home, College Bound senior, Zaire Kelly was killed in an attempted robbery. Zaire had just left our Academic Mentoring Program, where he shared his hopes and dreams. He was looking forward to meeting with a representative from Florida A&M University on Friday, as this was his first choice of colleges.
For the last four years, we have challenged and supported Zaire to walk in his greatness. At site on Wednesday, he exceeded any of our expectations. He was fully present and glowing. His delivery was everything that we had every asked as he set the bar high for all of the underclassmen. Zaire had ascended.
The College Bound Family has been affected deeply by this loss. To allow our students, families, mentors and staff to heal as well as celebrate Zaire‘s life and legacy, we will cancel all after-school programming this week.
We ask that you keep his family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time and the days ahead.
My Deepest Condolences,
